Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves and Legislators Visit Vanleigh RV and Mississippi Silicon

Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves, area legislators, the board of supervisors, and other officials toured Vanleigh RV and Mississippi Silicon.

Vanleigh RV is a manufacturer of high quality fifth wheel recreational vehicles. Producing four to five units per day, the company employs around 200. The company plans to increase production to eight units per day in 2018.

Mississippi Silicon is a manufacturer of commercial grade silicon, and element used in over 5,000 silicone products from shampoo to sealants to cosmetics; as an alloy in aluminum products, especially for auto parts; and for polysilicon which is further processed into computer chips and solar cells. Mississippi Silicon employs over 140 and has plans to continue to grow.

Senator Rita Parks reported that “we try to plan visits like this one to keep state officials informed of our progress and the issues that are important to Northern Mississippi. We appreciate Lieutenant Governor Reeves for taking time out of his busy schedule to learn more about our part of the state.”

Representative Lester Carpenter also thanked the Lieutenant Governor for his visit and said “the TAP Alliance region is blessed with fine companies like Vanleigh RV and Mississippi Silicon. With the support of the State of Mississippi, these companies will continue to grow and provide living wage jobs for our citizens.”
